What about an article from ex-Windows, now-Linux user who can’t stand Macs?Īctually that’s not completely true. however its easy to find articles in the reverse.ĭisclaimer: IAAUSA (I Am A Unix Sys-Admin) I have yet to read an article about someone who tried switching to OS X and hated it so much they went back to windows and wrote an article about it, nor have i read or found articles that talk about moving from OS X to windows. Hey, and if you’re a linux user, all the better for you, linux on PPC is (for the most part) just as mature as linux for x86 and you get nice RISC hardware to run it on. i’d suggest an iBook or PowerBook which seem to be the best bang for the buck, or wait a few weeks for the new iMacs. don’t trust what i’m saying, check ebay for yourself. unlike used pcs, macs and laptops retain their value for quite a while after purchase. If you’re sitting on the fence: go buy a mac, use it for a month, if you can’t stand it, sell it on ebay. start saving your pennies for longhorn or something, i’m sure it will be every bit as “innovative” and spectacular as they say. you’re probably not going to get a mac user to buy a pc in the near future. i’ve heard enough already about windows “just working” (mostly in regards to working with other microsoft products). you’re probably not going to convert a die hard ms zealot any time soon.Īnd if you like windows, fine. hey: if you like a mac use it (i like my powerbook and i use it), be happy that you don’t have to go through all the crap windows users go through. Same old tired issues coming from both sides. The fact that the report abuse link doesn’t work has made this thread one of the worst yet. the world wants compatability more than fancy plastic cases and cute icons. people buy windows pcs so that things work the smoothest. The main reason why the whole world buys windows computers, regardless of its attendant problems, is that they want to avoid all of the problems this article mentions. and actually, much of that is not a NEED, but vanity…specifically the vanity of the wealthy in North America, Europe, and Japan. we all know that less than 1.8% of the computer using population of the world now finds it has NEED of a mac. So unless you NEED a mac for some specific reason, buying one is a game for the vain. if one cares about style and looks, on the pc side, instead of a few basic choices (emac, imac, powermac, ibook, and powerbook)one has the option of choosing literally hundreds of styles, shapes, and colors to match ones taste and decor. Macs are no more stylish than plenty of pcs made. Macs since os x are no easier to use than windows xp. “and your colleagues will be asking why your computer is so much cooler and easier to use than theirs” To make up reasons why one would sneak a mac into a biz is a bit odd. If there is a need for a mac than the it shop will have them on hand for whatever reason warrants it. compiling that thing through vpc would be heresy, we can’t wait 4 days for it to compile.Īnd real developer would love to use nix. The things I hate are the fact that I have to sometimes fix some bugs for one our windows vc++ applications. Why can’t they just make things that work and are compatible?Īll presentations work fine through openoffice or mac office 2004. Normally it gets stuck in safari, fucking m$. The things that I hate are that my corporation relies on microsoft technology for their internal website, anytime you need to edit a timecard or download a patch, or get help from the help desk, you have to go through this abominable set of asp pages. You can also run applications remotely with X11. My workplace is a unix and mainframe shop, we usually ssh into one of the large clustered servers so it doesn’t matter if you’re using mac, windows, linux, or amiga, so long as you have a tcp/ip stack and some ssh/ssl libraries. and what’s the problem with gay people? OS: LinuxMint 17, Shotcut 17.04, Ardour 5. ![]() I hope I could help, just waiting for these bugfixes to start the new AV revolution on LinuxĪll the best and thanks a million for Shotcut!! Ardour 5.12 comes with a Lua script to use a Vamp plugin and run analysis, it’s still somewhat cumbersome, and results vary depending on the source material. I don’t think this is the wanted behaviour, since hitting play should start all Jack clients at the same time with the same timeline. Shotcut and Ardour are synced, but with 4-5 sec delay. In Jack sync mode, the play button (Shotcut or Ardour or Jack, doesn’t matter) sends “play” to Jack (and Shotcut), but the real timeline start occurs 4-5 sec later… so Shotcut starts but Ardour waits 4-5 sec to the start of the jack timeline. MLT is creating a stereo output and a stereo input in jack, which is fine, but it connects shotcut’s output to shotcut’s input automatically (which doesn’t make sense), instead of connecting the output to the system playback (and input with system capture). Now, I was trying around with Ardour-Jack-Shotcut sync and I figured out 2 small bugs: So creating complex mixes in Ardour with a lot of automations, routing, surround and this all synced with the video timeline of shotcut is now an really big step forward. Until now it was a pain to work with music AND video on linux… But thank to the Jack implementation in Shotcut now it’s absolutely amazing. A stereo Master Bus is created, and any track created defaults to output on this bus. Creates an empty session with no tracks and no monitoring. I’m a recording engineer and I’m making a lot of music videos. Ardour 6.0 now allows recording from any position in a Channels signal flow. As of Ardour 5.12, which introduced the new template dialog, the factory templates are: Empty Template. ![]() First, thanks a million to have implemented Jack support. A special request from the United States Postal Service brought one more series of this amazing one-dollar coin in 1999. Although 1.5 billion coins were produced production ceased in 1981. A lot of people confused the new one-dollar coin with a quarter which was the main reason why they rejected it. Unfortunately, the one-dollar coins weren’t successfully introduced into circulation. Anthony only a fictional woman was placed on coins – Lady Liberty. What makes this coin special is that it marks the first time that a portrait of a real woman appeared on a United States circulating coin. ![]() This way they would eliminate the one-dollar paper currency and save millions of dollars per year on manufacturing. Also, one of the reasons why they decided to introduce a new type of coin into circulation was the cost of printing a one-dollar bill. The Turn 8 and 9 chicane (Turns 12 and 13 on the revised course) was also eased, creating a more flowing layout. A four-turn complex was added where the previous Turn One hairpin had been, featuring a left-hander and three right-handed turns leading to the second straight. Finally, 2017 saw the dream become a reality, when Formula E hosted its first event in the city, with the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty as impressive backdrops.
